Panda Loves Honey

Somewhere in Sichuan, in SW China, there lived a panda family. They had a daughter who was very smart and bright. So they named her Ming Ming which means 'bright as sunshine'.

Ming Ming always had too many questions in her head and kept annoying her parents with them.

One day she told her Mommy, "I am tired of eating bamboo all day. It has no taste and not even enough nutrition."

Mommy: "Ming Ming, my child we are Giant Pandas. That's our diet. You can look for some small frogs, or bird eggs in the jungle and eat. But Bamboo is so easy to find."

Ming Ming: "But our cousin Polar bear eat fish & seals and other cousins brown bears eat Honey. Why can't we eat all that?"

Mommy: "Do you even know how hard their lives are? Finding such exotic foods is not easy. We are lucky, we get bamboo so easily."

Ming Ming: "I am not lazy like other Pandas. I want some excitement in my life. I am going to go Honey hunting."

Mommy Panda looked at Ming Ming and said to herself: "This girl has gone nuts. Let her learn life the hard way. Huhh."

So further down in the jungle, she saw a beehive high up in the tree. She brought a long bamboo stick to shake the beehive so the Honey drips down.

Soon the beehive falls and Ming Ming enjoys all the Honey inside till its full and then falls asleep drunk on Honey muttering: "When there is no pain, there is no gain."

Fact:

Giant Pandas live in SW China in jungles where their diet consists of bamboo( 99%) and other small animals, eggs etc (1%). Since bamboo is low nutrition they have to keep eating all day and low calories keeps them lazy all the time. Being from a bear family their digestive system is good for carnivorous diet.

There have been instances where Pandas have gone in search of food and found honey and enjoyed it to the fullest (Pic 3).

Pandas in captivity are fed on honey, meat and eggs along with bamboo.

About the art:

Made from white, green, olive green, brown and pirate seaglass. Bamboo skewer is used to make bamboo stick.
