Notice the headpiece of the Parrot. Itscreamed to be where it is. I had no choice but to comply.
Here is an imaginary story from the parrot’s perspective.
Mithoo, this Amazon Green Parrot was caged inside a home somewhere in Asia. It was handsome, chirpy and spoke all the words its owners taught him. They gave him the best food, fresh fruits, crispy chilly peppers to munch on. His cage was huge. He was the centre of attention of all at home.
But mithoo’s life was not the way he wanted it to be. He thought of the Amazon rainforests where his species lived. He had only heard about it when his owners explained to their guests about his origin. He craved to see what was outside world was like. He could barely see much from his cage. So one day when one of the owners, after giving him a piece of apple forgot to latch the door. Mithoo seized the opportunity and saw a window was open too. And cautiously first he stepped out of the cage, sat on its top, surveyed the escape route. Once all clear, he took a flight straight out of the house.
Mithoo sat on a tree stump in the garden of the house. He was mesmerized to see how much beauty and color was around him. He noticed a tiny dragon fly hovering over the flowers. "Oh so this wee critter had been free all his life, while I lived a caged life."
"Never mind, at least I earned my freedom." He thanked himself.
He had no idea where and when will he get the next crispy fruit to eat. He realized freedom is great, but with it comes responsibility and risks too, to manage one’s own life, safety, food etc. Then he heard a few birds chirping on a not so far guava tree. "Ah, think of food, and there it is." He then flew out of this house's fence on to the guava tree next house for a wholesome meal.
Mithoo had crossed over, freedom finally, to eat and live his life his own way.
“Would the family be distressed on Mithoo’s disapperance?” Oh but Mithoo never bothered to think of his captors and hopped all day from one branch to the other, muching on guavas, like the dragon fly he had met earlier. When tired he sat among the branches, high up on a tree, under the free starry sky and mild breeze. “Whats in store for the next day?” He gave a passing thought and then reassured him, “Relax Mithoo. There’s a lot of sky for brave birds.” He decided to take a day at a time. Then he curled himself under his wings and closed his eyes to sleep.
