Habitoi silk scarf, light weight with subtle sheen
Handpainted with professional silk dyes.
Size: 18”x 57” ( 46cm x 140cm)
Motif: The scarf is made inspired by truck art in South Asia. Apart from the fascinating colorful motifs they are embellished with, either as paints or as plastic sparkly stickers( chamak patti), they also carry quotes. In India, usually they are in Hindi. The truck owners who are usually the drivers too, also name their vehicle as a beloved. This one being Punjab ki Heer ( Punjab’s Juliet).
Painted with colorful and vibrant dyes. Beyond the gutta limited motifs, I let the dyes flow free across the silk to create unique patterns.
Steam fixed. Colors are fast. Will last your lifetime if used with tender loving care.
They are one of a kind piece. As they are neither AI designed, nor mass produced, nor screen printed, you will not find another scarf of this design.
Variations in colors in different picture are due to light effects- clicked in white light, yellow light and sunlight.
Care instructions:
Gently hand wash with soap, rinse in cold water, and let dry naturally. Iron on silk setting - do not twist or rub. Do not dryclean if gutta is used.
PS: Allow us a few days after we recieve the order, so the edges can be hand rolled.
