Bijli Rani Silk Scarf

$85.00

Habitoi silk scarf, light weight with subtle sheen
Handpainted with professional silk dyes.
Size: 18”x 57” ( 46cm x 140cm)

Motif: Bijli Rani is a young girl who lives in a remote area in South Asia, who walks more than 2 miles everyday to bring portable water. She works in hard conditions, but still has a spark in her eyes. She sings on her way back home carrying heavy pots. She wears bright clothes and jewelry that jingles. Her vivacious personality has led her to be nicknamed Bijli Rani by fellow water carrier women.

Painted with colorful and vibrant dyes that are as energentic as Bijli herself. Beyond the gutta limited image of Bijli, I let the dyes flow free across the silk to create unique patterns.

Steam fixed. Colors are fast. Will last your lifetime if used with tender loving care.

They are one of a kind piece. As they are neither AI designed, nor mass produced, nor screen printed, you will not find another scarf of this design.
Variations in colors in different picture are due to light effects- clicked in white light, yellow light and sunlight.

Care instructions:
Gently hand wash with soap, rinse in cold water, and let dry naturally. Iron on silk setting - do not twist or rub. Do not dryclean if gutta is used.

PS: Allow us a few days after we recieve the order, so the edges can be hand rolled.
