Where Is Daddy?
There lived a beautiful family of foxes in a village- their Mother and 3 babies: Tim, Jill and Tod.
One day the naughty pup Tim asked his mother: “Mommy where is our Daddy?”
Mother fox did not know how to answer that question. She just sat quiet and sad.
Tim asked again: "Mommy where is my Daddy, I miss playing with him.”
Mommy: "Well, kids, now that you are old enough. I want to tell you that some months ago your father died. That is why he is not with us anymore?"
Jill, the little she-pup, who was very sensitive & quiet, softly asked, “How did Daddy die? Did he have an accident?”
Mother fox: “No my dears, your Daddy was killed by a group of men on horses, accompanied by hound dogs."
Tod, the third cub peeping out of their den asked, “But why did they kill our Daddy? What was his fault?"
Mother: "My lovely kids, his only fault was that he was a fox. And for humans, #foxhunting is a sport."
Jill: "What are you saying, Mommy? How can killing our Daddy be a sport?"
Mommy: "These cruel humans think we foxes have pretty fur, so they kill us for that. Some argue that we are pests who harm their chickens and fields. Some just enjoy fox hunting as a sport and claim its part of their culture."
Tim: "What kind of culture is that? Why should anybody kill my Daddy just for a sport?"
Tod: "This does not make any sense at all. Don’t we have a right to live on Earth in peace? I also miss Daddy so much. He was the kindest father.”
Mommy: "Yes, but these humans… they neither live in peace themselves, nor do they let us foxes live in peace."
Jill: "Damned these cruel humans…duh! they call it culture. Do they even have a heart?"
#FoxHunting is a centuries old sport where foxes are chased, caught, & killed, usually the red fox, by foxhounds and are followed by ‘masters’ on horses. Although England and Scotland have banned the sport since 2004/2002, but it continues to thrive in most parts of the Western World, including Ireland, France, Canada, US etc. In Australia, red foxes were specifically introduced on the continent for foxhunting.
It is a barbaric sport that needs to become history.
